What a lovely evening we had at the CMA’s Annual Dinner in May!

The event was held at the Bryanston Country Club which served a delicious meal rounded off with a spectacular tiered arrangement of cheeses in the style of an elaborate wedding cake.

Guests included Yedwa Mgxekwa, Works Manager at Eikenhof Quarry and his wife Moerra; Honorary members Alan Exton and Graham Shortt and their wives Sybil and Frances; and Susan Custers and Lyn Patricio from Promech Publishing.

After-dinner speaker Chris Turner, MD of LM Radio, was accompanied by his wife Robbie. Chris delighted the audience with tales of his early exploits in broadcasting and his aims and ambitions for LM Radio currently with music being provided by live-streaming LM radio in the background.

All in all, it was a most pleasant evening and will be remembered for all the right reasons.

This year, the CMA honoured Martin Skeen for his contribution to industry and the promotion of excellence in belt conveying spanning his long career by presenting him with a framed certificate. Martin describes his work as “always interesting, as every conveyor is different”.
