On the count-down to the end-of-year shutdown, it seems appropriate to reflect on the CMA activities during the year. The Training arm has seen two Design Diploma courses, the popular Chute Seminar and four On-Site Certificate courses, with good examination results and high praise on all evaluation forms.
Two Joint Forum meetings were held at Brelko training centre. A variety of papers included Modern Day Project Challenges, Design of Screw Take-ups, Belt Loading re-visited, Accreditation and Certification in SA, Gearbox Sizing and Selection Criteria, CMA Pulley Specification.
Four Members’ meetings and the Annual Golf Day were all held at Bryanston Country Club while the CMA welcomed five new or returning members this year: Matador Conveyor Belting, Megaroller Africa Steel, Rio-Carb, Rema Tip Top Afrique, and African Trading Belting & Supplies.
Working groups
Working Groups are on-going with their various tasks, and the Standards and Technical WG has been especially busy. On the Agenda this year have been the SDO application, the Notes to Purchasers issue, corrections to SANS 1313-1, systems for document control and the review of all technical documents and Standards, preparation of a CMA Pulley Specification, formalising the structure of a Curriculum to govern course content of all CMA training courses, and progress on the Handbook, to name just a few.
Preparations for Beltcon 22 are well in hand, so all-in-all we may congratulate ourselves on a very productive year. Thank you all.
Wishing you a peaceful festive season and safe travels.
