From the Chairman’s Desk May 2025

In the lead-up to Beltcon 22, which will be held 6th and 7th August 2025 in Johannesburg, South Africa, conference organisers are hard at work tying up final speakers and exhibitor details for this event which will appeal to decision makers, designers, engineers, manufacturers and constructors in the sphere of belt conveying.

Beltcon draws on the expertise of distinguished speakers from academia, researchers, professional engineers working in the field and practical, hands-on conveying experts who present two days of informative and absorbing materials handling and conveying information.

A full two years

As such, the well-deserved reputation of this bi-annual conference which has taken place every two years, beginning 1981, remains intact and a prominent highlight on the conveying industry calendar.

Behind the scenes, planning for the next Beltcon starts right after the previous conference (held in August 2023), and takes a full two years to put together. There is a call for papers and submission of synopses by prospective speakers.

No ‘talking heads’

The Committee works hard to maintain the Beltcon brand quality by selecting a balanced programme and prospective speakers are asked to write a technical paper that will support their presentation which then undergoes rigorous scrutiny in a peer review session.

The conference is very much organised by the industry for the industry. No ‘talking’ heads just solid information detailing past and present experiences and a glimpse into the future trends which will shape the industry.
